Make room for a small screen break

A reminder is useful only if it fits the work in front of you.

Plan a change, not a perfect streak

The UK Health and Safety Executive advises planning breaks or changes of activity during display-screen work. That does not mean this site can prescribe the correct schedule for you. Your role, environment, accessibility needs, and professional advice matter.

Try this planning template

  1. Pick an existing transition. Choose a meeting ending, a document being saved, or another natural pause.
  2. Choose one comfortable change. Look away from your screen, switch to a non-screen task, or get up and move if that is suitable for you.
  3. Set a modest reminder. Use an ordinary calendar prompt. If it interrupts an important task, move it rather than abandoning the routine.
  4. Review the fit. At the end of the day, note whether the reminder was useful. Adjust the timing; no streak is required.

A sample, not a prescription

“After my morning video call, I will take a short pause away from the screen before opening the next document.” The specific length and activity are yours to choose. A short desk pause is not a replacement for appropriate physical activity or individualized healthcare.
